China's surge in the modern Olympics

The modern Olympics at London just completed its third day. From the past there has been changes in the modern Olympics. If it was Russia who always remained in the top 3 all the time, for the past decade it has been the surge of People's Republic of China. There are other nations too who have lost their might in the recent times.

lets simply glance through the Day3 medals tally. China and USA have 17 medals but in terms of perfection China leads way ahead with 9 Gold medals while USA have just 5. If it was in the pool where the US used to sweep medals now the dominance is being splitted. Of the 12 Gold medal results announced till now America could only bag 4, while France and China takes 3 and 2 resp. Another supreme country Australia could only bag just 1 Gold medal in the pool. W

Lets not focus in only a particular event. Altogether 40 Gold medals have been declared of which China grabbed 9, which in this stage would be a worry for the Americans. The most surprising thing is the 4th place decorated by the North Koreans with 3 Gold medals and a Bronze has raised a billion eyebrows. Asian countries continue to take medals in their kitty. The plight of Germany is notable. It has been three days since Germany is trying for a medal. Countries like India have made it to the Medals tally but Germans couldn't. I dont say that Deutschland will not be inside the top 10, but there will be considerable decrease in their medals this year.

The host nation itself has failed to win a Gold medal till now, may be the whole of Europe has troubles in making it to the medal tally. Of the 40 Gold medal events 17 are in the kitty of Asians, just 5 with the USA where as Europe has 15 and the South Americans and Africans takes the rest

Below linked the medals tally of last few Summer ol Olympics

1. 2008 Beijing Olympics

2.  2004 Athens Olympics

3   2000 Sydney Olympics

4 1996 Atlanta Olympics

5. 1992 Barcelona Olympics

See the Chinese grow in each Olympics and i could easily say its from Europe mainly Russia and Germany the medals are missing when it comes up the year...
